According To a post on Thecarhauler.com there is an effort by drivers at Hansen & Adkins to unionize. If you read the comments it looks like the guys at United Road would like to join the teamsters too.

Trust me, its not going to happen. Not at URS and thats for sure, do your research, all the states that are struggling financially are pro-union, wonder why. When the smoke clears, URS will have a good chunk of the market. Union days are numbered….
As an employed driver of Hansen’s I can assuredly tell you that no effort to become a unionized carrier will ever happen here at Hansen & Adkins Auto Transport or Harbor Auto Transport. The drivers here are against union policies and practices. Former Teamster drivers here have been soured by and towards the Teamsters. Teamster Car Hauling is pretty much dead.
mY HUSBAND HAS BEEN HAULING CARS FOR APPROX. 3 YRS NOW. OR “WAS” SHOULD i SAY. IT WAS VERY QUESTIONABLE RATHER HE SHOULD TAKE HIS FIRST CAR HAULING JOB AND BECOME PART OF THE UNION….YOU HEAR A LOT OF GOOD THINGS , YOU KNOW THE OLD SAYING IF IT’S TO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT PROBLY IS ? WELL AFTER LAY-OFF, AFTER LAY-OFF MY HUSBAND IS NOW JOBLESS. THERE WAS NEVER JOB SECURITY. THAT FIRST JOB HE TOOK, THEY ENDED UP ON STRIKE 2 YRS LATER AND THEN THE COMPANY THAT PICKED THEM UP A MONTH LATER IS NOW SHUTTING THEIR DOORS. MY HUSBAND HAS WORKED 3 WEEKS SINCE JAN. 1, 2009 AND IT’S NOW APRIL 14…AGAIN, WHERE IS THE JOB SECURITY THAT THE UNION PROMISES ? WE ARE BARELY MAKING ENDS MEET RIGHT NOW. I BARELY MAKE A FOURTH OF WHAT MY HUSBAND WAS MAKING AND SO WE ARE REALLY FEELING THE AFFECTS OF JOB LOSE AND THE ECONOMY IN GENERAL………IT’S JUST BAD TIMES AND RIGHT NOW IS NO TIME FOR YOU TO BE LETTING ANYONE CONTROL YOUR JOB STABILITY.
UNIONS let me tell you how great they are. Being formally from Lordstown Ohio I hauled cars as a union member I had to join to work no choice. When i moved to Florida there was about 650 car haulers working there today only a few dozen remain. Also not to say one of the assembly plants was removed. Now I ask you Union or NO UNION I say let the unions go as what they created in Detroit and Lordstown PLEASE GO AWAY
The teamster days were numbered years ago, they came, they saw, and they have burried they’re own hatchet. Sad to say they gave many false dreams to people thinking that they were going to make a major change to the industry, sadly they didn’t do their leg work and read the writing on the wall, that the economy was and has been taking a dive for years and now it has plumitted and has hit rock bottom. The old days are gone and a new generation has come out from all the ashes and the strong has servived, and although the union might always be around, their hey days are through.
I have to agree with david. They are a pretty good company now. with decent benefits. If they go union, the drivers will get less. Union is not the answer. Work ethic and pride will keep an company up front. With that said, the company has to strive for that also.
any one who feels working for 76cents a mile hauling autos is dumb get paid right the union is the only way to go it is drivers like nounion ones who has runied the industrie not the union teamsters unite and get stronger the rates nonunion workers make is a joke be proud and strong or haul freight

you have got to be kidding me…if there was no threat of union you would be working for 10 dollars a hour with no over time…like state law says…the union sets the rate of pay and if you work for harbor you no they have already dropped there pay
Unoin please, give yourself a break. Local 917 which I think has been absorbed by a joint-counsel has got be to the least,the biggest bull#%#^&^^&& ever to rep. a group hard working folk. Take for instance fleetcar, never will. Why? The trucks are there own entity, trucks not owned by the company. URS, worse case sernerio, managment will give drivers raises to off set any attempt,and if not that they will shut the door. Unoin is washed up in car-hauling. CAN you say CORN_FLAKE/the flipside to that is CONWAY.
You dumbasses that work non union car haul prove how stupid you are from all the comments I just read on here.I have been a union brother for 28 years in Detroit.Hauling cars and trucks is a hard job.If you non union dumbasses are willing to work for $700.00 a week and work over your 70 hours,I know you do I talked to 2 united guys this week that told me they are putting in 80 to 90 hours a week.Be real careful the scales because of all the e mails I sent out to the DOT in the midwest and all over the south.They will be looking for you!Oh ya union brothers average $90,000 per year lets see you top that!

HE WAS UNION AND LAID OFF TIME AND TIME AGAIN, HE WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO UNION AND IF THEY TRIED TO MAKE HIS COMPANY UNION I CAN SAY HE WOULD BE AGAINST IT. Now, listen non-union carhaulers are second to union carhaulers, 1.16 cents a loaded mile as of june 1.2011 is second to none period! work rules are inportant in contract not just pay and benefits, going home is very important to me 28 yrs on the job, you take a trip out,your next trip is back in direction of your home terminal and your back haul trip pays 96 cents a mile,wow! do the math you dumb ****ing non union drivers!
The union is only good once you get some seniority, and these days who has the time to be laid off for three or four months a year while waiting for someone above them to retire? My husband went to work for Allied in 2004. It was his 1st union job, ans seemed great at first, but then came the layoffs–no money and no health insurance. Next to YRC, same union, different local, no one retiring above him, no seniority, long layoffs. Then to another union carrier that we won’t name because he is technically still employed there, but laid off. Unions may have a purpose, but I wish my husband could go back to being a non union driver. At USF Dugan, when he was non union, there were no layoffs and the pay was just as good as at the union companies, but they went out of business and what remains of USF is union. Non union companies that pay well won’t touch mu husband due to the way some union drivers abuse the system filing grievances to cover their own lazy butts. He’s trying Hansen/Adkins–non-union. Maybe he will get to work. I sure hope so. You guys who love the union maybe forget about the guy who is low seniority on the board and gets laid off all the time. It’s hard on a family, you know. So don’t knock the ones who want to be non-union.
