It is good to see some jobs posted because it is an encouraging sign that things may be about to improve in our economy. I have seen a couple of help wanted ads lately for car haulers, the latest is from Translogic posted on craigs list. Looks like they will take company drivers or Owner Operators.
UPDATE 1-02-08: A company in NW Indiana is on craigs list wanting a driver with “verifiable Auto hauling experience” The ad says that they want a driver that is able to “Drive split transmission“. In my day that was a twin stick but I don’t think anybody is using those anymore. Maybe they are referring to a two speed rearend??
UPDATE 1-7-09: I ran across something I missed in Oct about a major stake in Translogic being sold:
Private equity firm CNC Holdings, West Bloomfield, Mich., purchased a 53% stake in TransLogic Auto Carriers, Bad Axe, Mich., the companies said Oct. 15.
Financial terms were not disclosed. TransLogic founder Lyn Tetreau, who owns the remaining 47% stake in the closely held carrier, will continue as president, the company said.

Ah, they gotta be talkin about these new (well … not so new) Eaton Roadranger 10 speeds (5 up and 5 down). I haven’t seen a split H in years !! ‘Course they may mean they want someone experienced in driving junk (repos) with little tranny left in them, onto the decks … ?
