The union is only good once you get some seniority, and these days who has the time to be laid off for three or four months a year while waiting for someone above them to retire? My husband went to work for Allied in 2004. It was his 1st union job, ans seemed great at first, but then came the layoffs--no money and no health insurance. Next to YRC, same union, different local, no one retiring above him, no seniority, long layoffs. Then to another union carrier that we won't name because he is technically still employed there, but laid off. Unions may have a purpose, but I wish my husband could go back to being a non union driver. At USF Dugan, when he was non union, there were no layoffs and the pay was just as good as at the union companies, but they went out of business and what remains of USF is union. Non union companies that pay well won't touch mu husband due to the way some union drivers abuse the system filing grievances to cover their own lazy butts. He's trying Hansen/Adkins--non-union. Maybe he will get to work. I sure hope so. You guys who love the union maybe forget about the guy who is low seniority on the board and gets laid off all the time. It's hard on a family, you know. So don't knock the ones who want to be non-union.

Terry...6 units,..Load the tractor just like you have it....Back of cab empty...This will get both units under 13'6''...Load 2 of your extended cabs on trailer...Drive the first one...Extend the front slide out ...You want this truck far enough ahead so it barely misses the one on tractor..( allow for a dip when turning )..Back the rear truck on..use the second of the extended cabs...Leave 3 or 4 inches between the rear bumpers on thes trucks because it will come down in a ( V ) just like in your picture..Bottom of trailer....Back the last crew cab in the nose....get it as far forward as possible and still turn....Hang the last extended cab off the rear of the trailer...This configuration on that rig with the lo profile wheels and tires will get you about 13'6'' on the rear of the trailer...When hauling out of Fort Wayne west or south ...That load would be legal except for Iowa ( overhang )....Hang in there...... When Cooper got the first flat tops back in 1989...that load was scary....but I worked the city for years ( 5000--6000 units per year )and learned how to load that load in less than an hour...and so will you

When you ask for change it depends how far back you want to go. I've been in business since 2005 and I already notice changes. In my opinion the biggest change is who the actual trucking companies are. Years ago being a car hauler meant you had to sign on with a large and established company, and obey by their rules and protocol. Today however technology and internet make it easier for smaller scale operations. Advantage is that it is easier to start up on your own, disadvantage is that everyone else is doing the same. As a result you get many unqualified, untrained drivers, dispatchers and managers. There is also very little incentive for companies to uphold their reputation as they can just start a new company in the matter of days.

I am really confused, because I didn't say anything to get kicked off. Except I didn't hide the fact that I was not a union driver. Heck I'm no longer a driver at all, I sell software now.

Use to haul the and the company I worked for made us overload our limits with these damn pork-mobiles all the time. Too long and too heavy to carry a full load legally. Sure is funny when the police look the other way when their cars are being shipped though. Talk about one of the worst cars to unload and unload. No traction and rear wheels drive mean the suck if it's wet out, snowing, or there is ice build-up on the ramps. Down with the CROWN------------------VICS.
